Ferrari 488 Corsa Concept
*NOTE* This car was designed before the release of the real Ferrari 488.
The 488 Corsa is Designed to go head-to-head with the Lamborghini Aventador.
Shots of the finished car, now with wing mirrors, door gap, Ferrari logos and revised mesh.
The Name
The numbers, "488" is inspired by one of the most iconic Ferraris, the 288 GTO, using 400 to match with the modern Ferraris being in the "400" series, 430 458 etc. Along with the word, "Corsa" which stands for "Race" in Italian.
The Design
The Design is heavily inspired by one of my previous designs, the Cricios, along with many present and previous Ferrari Concept such as the LaFerrari. One of the main design points of this car is the pointed nose, designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency and beauty, the "Fangs" in the front intake, which was originally inspired by the "Shark" concept I made back in 2013. The smooth flow in roofline creates very little drag and tears through the air when moving, the side intake provides a big entrance for air to feed into the powerful 6.0L V12. The Big Front Intake was designed and testing in a wind tunnel simulator confirms that it is a very aerodynamic feature, giving the total car a drag coefficient of 0.24. (For Perspective, the Laferrari and Mclaren P1 gets around 0.35)
The Ferrari logos use the Ferrari horse in matte black, which I believe looks more "modern" and "sportier" than the usual yellow backing.
